Lately, the moisture barrier has been all the hype in skincare, and for a good reason. Every time you think about your skin’s moisture barrier, think of it as this protective shield that locks in necessary moisture while also helping your skin be protected from pollution. Once your moisture barrier is compromised, you might notice how much more dryness you tend to have, which could bring you discomfort and redness. Thus, it can aggravate the problem due to the additional loss of hydration when your skin barrier is compromised. Barrier repair products were created to complement the skin’s natural moisture barrier by hydrating and locking in moisture to assist in the skin’s natural repair process, based on soothing redness and irritation due to dryness. Kiehl’s sent me the cream to review, and given my dry, sensitive skin, I couldn’t wait to try it. Keep reading for my full review, below.
The Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Advanced Repair Barrier Cream Formula
The Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Advanced Repair Barrier Cream is a balm-to-cream formula that comes in a squeezable, toothpaste-like tube for easy application. It is formulated with Kiehl’s Advanced Barrier Technology, featuring beta-glucan complex and colloidal oatmeal, to help lock in moisture and support the skin’s own natural barrier repair function within one hour of application. Lipids play an integral role in hydrating skin, and as we age, they deplete, further begging the importance of a healthy moisture barrier in overall healthy, vibrant skin. It is designed for dry, very dry, and sensitive skin. The result? Smooth, soft skin that feels comfortable, less irritated, and red from dryness.
My Review of the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Advanced Repair Barrier Cream
My major skincare concern has to do with moisture, so I just had to snatch this barrier cream the moment I could get my hands on it.
It didn’t disappoint-a tiny dab of the rich, balmy formula instantly made the dry patches around my nose and mouth feel softer and more moisturized. While the cream is a little too heavy for me to use on my entire face, I’ve been loving it for spot treating dry and flaky areas. It can even make the dry areas of my skin smoother and softer in minutes after application; it soothes the redness that develops in the dry area around my nostrils. Currently, the 1.7-fluid-ounce, 50mL tube of Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Advanced Repair Barrier Cream is $48, but it is well worth the money, considering how little one needs to cover the desired area. I have had it a month or so and use it to spot treat dryness on my face and body, and it honestly looks like I’ve barely used any at all. You can use this cream over a face serum if you do not want to use a normal moisturizer.
